Nichkhun was born in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He was born to a half-Chinese half-Thai father and a Chinese-American mother (his maternal grandmother, who is full Chinese, moved to Thailand when he was 4 years old).[1] Nichkhun has an older brother Nichan, and two younger sisters, Nichthima (Yanin) and Nachjaree (Sherleen). At the age of two, he moved to Thailand with his family and studied at Dhepkanjana School and Tangpiroondham School. At the age of twelve, he studied at Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand for a semester and then resumed school in Thailand. He moved back to the United States to graduate at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California. After high school, he worked as a badminton coach for Rosemead High School. At the Los Angeles Korean Music Festival, a Korean agent invited him to audition for JYP Entertainment, owned by Park Jin-young, a K-pop artist and producer. [2]
